The Ultimate Goal For Attaining Great Faith For Answered Prayer
|When I first began to study the Bible I centered my learning around developing great faith for answered prayer. My main goal was for myself. First I wanted to be good enough for God to use me so I wanted to use faith and prayer to become the person I thought I ought to be.
Second I needed a great deal of help fixing my life. I was divorced with a a very young child to raise, yet I lacked direction or the confidence to find my way out of a family that continued to berate me for being a failure. Although my ex-husband cheated within our marriage, my family added added my divorce to the list of my failures. I lived and breathed living as a “non-person” as one of my uncles called me. It wasn’t a good attitude for raising a child successfully.
However, I was an adult and the responsibility for change was upon me–I just didn’t know how to make the changes I needed. Since I was a child the message of failure was all I heard about myself, so you would think that as a young adult I would get as far away from family as I possible could. But that wasn’t the case for two reasons; the first was that I was told for so long that I was worthless, I believed with all my heart and mind that I couldn’t survive on my own. The other reason was that I believed with all my heart that I would be a bad Christian if I walked away from my family–no matter how badly they treated me and other vulnerable family members.
I Learned How To Move Forward In Christ
Fortunately, I made the correct choice to study how to have great faith for answered prayer before I began other studies of the scriptures. I gained much spiritual growth beyond what I had expected. And I learned that I didn’t need to work hard or wait until some day when I would be good enough for God. I found out that there was nothing I could ever to do be good enough for God because I am good enough this moment through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Christ is the only way to please God and be good enough for Him. On our own it’s impossible because only Christ was good enough to die on the cross and be resurrected for our sins and blessings. Learning this meant that I could stop listening to the lies my family told me because I was good enough through Jesus.
All the changes I needed to make went from being a burden and impossible on my own to becoming a joy with Jesus because all I had to do was rest in Him.
Because of my study about having great faith for answered prayer I eventually learned that to walk with Christ means to think God’s thoughts, not the thoughts put in our heads from others if they go against the Word. We can never have great faith for answered prayer if we don’t allow our thinking to fall in line with God’s Word. We need to see ourselves as wonderful and great through Jesus Christ because that’s how God sees us.
Learning this lesson, allowed me to understand there is a greater purpose for having great faith for answered prayer. It is for having the ability to pray for others and to pray for the lost that they might be saved. I thank God for this understanding because it gave my life greater meaning and purpose. I also came to understand that it is an important part of living God’s purpose for our lives.
If the Bible isn’t working for you or you do not have answered prayer, you need to see yourself through Jesus Christ. Your self-esteem and confidence will grow and you’ll be able to receive what you ask for in prayer.
