Christian Divorce Wars - A Biblical View by Dr. Sharon Smith - Koen
There is a war going on in the Christian realm, and conservative churches across the nation choose to ignore and avoid; hoping the turmoil will subside, if we just pretend it does not exist.
Christian Divorce Wars is a book written from the heart of a woman, once ripped apart by the ravishing of a divorce war that left her and her children trapped in a dug out of despair. Although not a biographical portrait, the book gives the reader a glimpse of the hurt and desperation of the wounded soldiers caught in this often overlooked war, which rages within the walls of the sophisticated church.
The reader is given a panoramic view of God as healer, forgiver and friend, who while looking at the divorce decree, slams the gavel of His Word declaring "Divorce Denied."

Christian Divorce Wars - A Biblical View
Dr. Sharon Smith - Koen
If you're going through a divorce or know of someone who is, Dr. Sharon Smith Koen's book, Christian Divorce Wars - A Biblical View will give you great insight from a Christian perspective about how to get help--even if your church doesn't recognize the need for providing counseling and personal assistance. Christianity is not a shield from divorce, so whether it's a crises you're facing or it's happening to someone you know, Sharon's book is a "must-read!"
Influenced by living the nightmare of divorce in her own life, the author has made counseling her career in the areas of school counseling and through a private counseling service she established in her community which she calls "Wholeness Counseling Service." Left alone with two children to raise and support years ago when her first husband had abandoned her, she has many personal insights and observations to share. However, as a counselor and woman serving God, she has a tremendous amount of factual knowledge concerning divorce and Christian wisdom that is invaluable. She also provides helpful links to sites that are relevant to chapter topics.
Christian Divorce Wars serves as a much-needed marriage manual to keep handy for couples who are already married or who are preparing to be married. One of the causes for divorce within the church is when both parties do not have a clear understanding of what a Christian marriage requires. Christian Divorce Wars stresses the importance of counseling before marriage in order to begin on the correct path with God. While the author understands the devastating pain and loneliness of the suffering caused by divorce, she makes sure the reader understands that it's the children who suffer the most. She provides data and a hard-look at their pain that can last a life-time. They are the real victims that should be considered when a couple is thinking about the possibility of divorce.
I highly recommend, Christian Divorce Wars. It provides the information needed before marriage, before considering a divorce, or if one is currently divorced. Not only does it give facts as well as scripture about marriage and divorce and the pain a couple can experience, it also brings hope through God's love, mercy and forgiveness. Sharon has a real gift for sharing God's love with others. I wish I had her book years ago. Not only would it have helped me personally, but it would have made me a greater blessing for others.
